About Roxy

Roxy is approximately 3.5 years old and was adopted from the local shelter 2.5 years ago. She is a very sweet, affectionate, and goofy girl. She loves her toys and loves to play. Roxy will need an experienced owner who has time and funds to work with a behavioral trainer. She is very smart and knows quite a few tricks and commands, but lacks focus. While Roxy is extremely sweet, she does have behavioral issues. She is reactive and struggles to regulate her big feelings. She struggles with strangers, dog or human, but generally enjoys people and other dogs once properly introduced. She cannot be housed with small animals, as she has a strong prey drive and has bitten a smaller dog. She is currently being muzzle trained. MEDICAL ISSUE: Roxy has symmetrical lupoid onychodystrophy or SLO. This is an immune disorder that attacks her nails and is very painful when left untreated. She is on medication for this disorder and is responding well. She is very good about taking her medicine, even excited to take her pills for the after pill treat. This condition requires lifelong medication however, and should be considered by potential adopters.
