About Chupacabra

Only 40lb and mega handsome!! Hello, everyone! This sweetheart's name is Chupi, short for Chupacabra. He is a pit bull/lab mix: roughly a year old, fully vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and ready to meet his forever family. He is 37 pounds and likely full grown, but he does need to gain 5 or so pounds. I fostered him and two others for a few days at Danville Small Animal Clinic (DSAC) when the shelter's AC broke down in mid June. A couple weeks later, I took him back into my care after he began suffering from kennel neurosis. Kennel neurosis is a mental condition where young, athletic dogs become so bored and out of sorts in the shelter environment that they begin to act out of character. I want to make clear that this is no one's fault, it just happens sometimes and can't be predicted or anticipated. Within 30 minutes of being back at the clinic, Chupi decompressed and was back to his normal, happy self again. He has been a doll baby ever since and gets along with all of my coworkers. I cant say enough about this sweet boy-he is one in a million and has stolen my heart completely. Chupi is listed as URGENT and is in need of adoption quickly. He has tested well with other dogs, but would need a younger friend who can accept and match his playful energy. Older dogs are likely not good matches for Chupi, but would be considered under the right circumstances. He also needs a home WITHOUT cats, and WITH an owner who can meet his high exercise needs. A fenced-in yard would be fantastic for him, but is not a requirement.
