About Chico

Adoption Fee: $50
Staffordshire Bull Terrier / Black Mouth Cur
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Meet Chico, a man with a plan! From silly and lazy to adventurous and spirited, this four-year-old boy is an 'All-American' kind of dog who easily flexes to what his person is doing. Chico has an assortment of interests, but his favorite mode is being the center of attention. Chico is a really fun dog who likes car rides, running freely, playing tug, and going to the beach where he recently discovered his love for swimming. He can hike for long stretches and will carry his own pack. He also enjoys chew sticks, pup cups, and kongs filled with peanut butter. If he were a record, his Side B would be filled with love songs. For a meaty muscular dog, he sure is a marshmallow at heart. Though Chico has lived with kids and gets along with children of all ages, his ideal family is adult only or one with teens who are dog-savvy. Regarding other pets, he has no experience living with dogs or cats, but socializes with two older female dogs. He has never had an altercation with another dog, but he doesn't appreciate strange dogs who suddenly run up to him, especially when they are off leash. He will react if spooked like this. He is probably best as an only pet, but playdates with compatible canine kids would be great. At 60 pounds, Chico is in perfect health, but his breeds are best guesses. He is house trained, neutered, and UTD on shots. He also knows basic commands. He would thrive with someone experienced with lively and strong dogs and who likes having a strong owner-dog bond. Chico needs a forever home as soon as possible. Though very loved and well-cared for all his life, he is now in a foster home. Unfortunately, the household situation requires that Chico stay in a crate up to 10 hours a day, five days per week while his foster is at work. This is not the foster's fault who loves Chico and would keep him if the situation were different. Chico would really appreciate having time to adjust to new surroundings. He did great with the 3-3-3 Rule when he transferred to a foster home, so he will share those tips with you! Chico would love less time in a crate and more time having fun! Four paws up for a fenced-in yard!
