About Ryder

Ryder is an 8-year-old purebred, male, Australian Shepherd. We've had him all 8 years and it breaks our hearts to rehome him but he is too risky with our new baby. He's a very loyal dog. He loves playing fetch with his ball and will retrieve it over and over until you get tired. He has quite a bit of energy, although he has slowed down a little over the past couple years. He really needs a fenced in yard to run around in and workout his energy every day. He does well with adults and even some older children as long as they play fetch with him, but he can get a bit obnoxious with his ball obsession. He has done really well with our almost 3-year-old mini goldendoodle and with other family dogs but if we are on a walk and he feels threatened by neighbor dogs, he likes to aggressively bark at them. He would do best in a family with only adults that has no other dogs or submissive dogs that get along well with other dogs. He gets anxiety when people come over to the house or when riding in the car or going places outside of his house. He loves to be with his humans and is super loving but is only a once a month cuddler, so he is generally very independent, but he also loves to play. He weighs about 48-50lbs and is medium to large sized. We love him and want to find him another family to love him just as much.
