About Dino

Adoption Fee: $50
Rottweiler
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

My name is Shawn, and I'm looking for a forever home for Dino. I was connected to a family who needed temporary housing for their rottweiler, and I agreed to take him in for 2 months. I took him in while this sweet boy was literally on his way to be surrendered. He's about 8.5 years old, and a big boy at about 135 lbs; my vet had me put him on a diet and I think he's lost a little weight! I just haven't gotten him back up on a scale. They advised he should only be 95lbs. The family asked for a 2 month period, and we've arrived at the end of that time. Unfortunately, I have a firm date in which I'm moving from Colorado to Florida, which was well known in advance. Sadly, the family is telling me they cannot take him back 'because houses in Atlanta don't have fenced yards'. He's a dear lover, does not potty in the house, and does great both inside and out on the property. He has never tried to get out of the yard and is crate trained. 1 of my dogs is as small as 9 lbs, another only 19 lbs, so he's really good with little animals as well. He does lean into ladies, but does Ok with men too. He prefers no hats. He wants to cuddle all day, has the cutest snores when he's sleeping, and will sometimes sing to the music! He's a sucker for cucumbers, and will lay on you/your feet at every chance he gets %9D%A4%8F It's been such a pleasure hosting him. He's can be a little fearful. He's not aggressive, he just needs time to adjust like most rottis. I have 3 other dogs in this house, a cat, 2 chickens, a teenager, and little kids visit regularly. Never an issue with those in the home. That said, he is not comfortable with strangers, and he is quite loud when new people come over until he sees they mean no harm. In the 2 months he's been here there have been no bite attempts.and his owners said he has no track record of bites. For those reasons, plus his age and the health stuff that comes with that, I fear he will have an unfavorable outcome at the humane society. I'll be driving from Colorado Springs to Miami. I'm looking for Dino's forever home anywhere along that path, either route. He would love a little or big farm where he's allowed inside throughout the day, and will sleep inside at night. Lots of pics available. Thank you for considering Dino!
