About Buddy

Adoption Fee: 250$
Australian Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Buddy Needs a Home, currently located in Erwin, TN Buddy is a 2 year old male Australian Shepard. He was dumped by his original owners 6 months ago. He has been a 'roamer' for the past six months. However, Buddy is not a loner! He prefers a pack (with dogs, not just humans). During his six months of wandering, he spent a lot of time at a local hunters property hanging out with his retired hunting dogs. The hunter helped keep Buddy fed, but he did not want to keep him as is own. Buddy found his way to our house on July 4th. We've had him fully vaccinated, started him on flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and he is scheduled for a neuter this week. Buddy Facts: 1. 2 year old male, will be neutered on 7/18 2. Loves other dogs, male and female 3. Enjoys being outside. He is an outside dog at our house. The hunter's wife said they tried to bring him inside a couple times, but he howled and cried to go out. I am not sure if this would change with a Forever family. He likes his 'pack', so maybe if his 'pack (I.e. other dogs) are inside, he'd be ok with it. No guarantees. 4. Does not like thunder or fireworks, but settles fine inside with radio until it's over. 5. Loves to run and play. He needs a large yard with a containment system or fence to allow him to be an Aussie. 6. He would actually make a great herding dog. He 'herds' my youngest dog when they're playing or leash walking. 7. Needs an active human that can handle his energy. 8. Loves belly rubs. 9. Loves to be brushed 10. Does not like to be approached head on, so he does this cute little backwards butt wiggle when he wants you to pet him. 11. Not really treat driven, but loves attention. 12. Loves to go for walks. 13. Doesn't really play with toys. He will bury chew toys. He does like to snuggle with stuffed animals (without a squeaker, squeakers will be removed and buried with the chew toys, lol 14. Very loving. He loves to lean against his humans, and he'll give a single gentle kiss on the cheek to greet them if they're sitting at his level. 15. Leery of men, but warms up of your patient 16. Mild mannered, great temperament 17. Lyme positive, asymptomatic There is a rehoming fee of $250 to help with medical costs to date (vaccines, dewormer, flea/tick/ heartworm/prevention, bloodwork/urinalysis for Lyme disease, and neuter).
