Bruce found himself on the county's euthanasia list when he arrived at the shelter with multiple puncture wounds on his legs, a massively open wound across his whole neck and various cuts and scrapes along his body. Suspected to have been tied up with a chain and attacked on multiple occasions, one thing was clear - Bruce needed help, and fast. After two weeks of intensive, twice-daily rinsing and wound care, the tissues on Bruce's neck became healthy enough for our orthopedic surgeon to go in and fully close his neck back up. It took this sweet boy over a month to heal, and in that time, we were able to help him build confidence and feel safe, for what may have been the first time in his life. In our care, he has been able to experience affection and love from people he has learned he can trust. Now, it's time for Bruce to find that forever spot where he can continue to blossom, experience life and have that unconditional love from a family of his very own. Because Bruce can be a bit shy meeting new people (understandably so!), it may take more than one introduction for you to get to know him. Once he opens up, though, you'll find that he loves companionship, chasing after balls and going for long walks. He would love to cozy up in a comfy bed and enjoy a lifetime full of love. We are seeking a home with no children and where he can be the only dog. Bruce is crate-trained, potty-trained, has excellent leash manners, and knows basic obedience commands. Bruce's adoption fee includes his completed veterinary exams, vaccines, neuter and microchip.
