About Alice

Golden Retriever
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

Meet Alice, a sweet and gentle 7 year old golden girl who recently came into rescue. Her life prior to rescue was not happy nor glamorous'|Alice was kept in a back yard for most of her life was also used for breeding and had a litter not that long ago.%A0 Her life has changed for the better since joining our rescue, and we are looking for a family who will love and cherish her as a full fledged family member. Alice is living with 3 big dogs - 2 Goldens and a Samoyed - in her foster home and is not bothered by them at all. She completely ignores them.%A0 She hasn't had any interested in playing yet, but cohabitates with them wonderfully.%A0 She doesn't have a mean bone in her body for anyone or anything.%A0 %A0Alice hasn't shown any interest in toys, balls or bones yet either.%A0However, we think in her new home if she was the only dog or with another older dog, she might have interest in a ball for a little bit each day in the backyard. She has lived with a cat in her foster home and she ignores her too, so cats in her new home would be just fine.%A0 Alice has sensitive skin and will need a high quality food that is not grain free.%A0 She is enjoying her lamb kibble with a little wet food mixed in presently. She isn't a big eater, but does enjoy her treats! She has a tendency to put most of her mouth into the water bowl, so in her new home we recommend a smaller water bowl where she cannot do that as her chin gets a bit raw from the water. As to house training, the first day she had an accident which is absolutely typical as dogs learn where you want them to go, but since then she follows her foster mum outside each morning and every few hours to the grass and will potty there if she needs to.%A0She is a quick learner. Her forever family should plan on following this same approach as she learns another new home/yard. Alice would love to go on leisurely walks with her new family.%A0Care needs to be taken when leaving the home without her, as she will try to follow you out the door, but once you leave she will look out the door for a little wile and then go lay right back down again.%A0 %A0She can be left at home just fine for a few hours a day if needed.%A0Alice is not a huge fan of car rides, but she will go and whines initially but then settles.%A0 She can get car sick so best if she goes on car rides that she has not been fed recently.%A0She will not jump up into the car, so you will need to lift her or get a ramp.%A0 At night time, she sleeps right next door to her foster mom on the floor and does not stir all night.%A0 Alice's favorite thing is just to be by the side of her person. She is Velcro and will come sit next to you wherever you are. If you want a dog to sit under your desk while you work, she's it.%A0 %A0Alice knows sit, and will come when you call her name.%A0 %A0She only needs a gentle voice - a loud home would not be for her.%A0 Her favorite thing is when you pet her.%A0 Alice's perfect home would not have young children - she is fine with kids and likes them a lot, but we think she needs and deserves a calmer lifestyle now.%A0 She needs to go to a place she can call her home and be loved and treated gently, calmly, and kindly and get some ear scritches and gentle kisses on her head.%A0 %A0Alice is not going to be the dog to jump in the pool, go on long hikes, or chase a ball for hours - she's kind, quiet, and loving and will need the exact same from her new home and family.
