About Maya

Maya is an undemanding roommate, enjoying an occasional walk on a leash, and a comfortable bed to nap on. She follows her person around and wants to be near that person, but is not a lap dog. We are told Maya comes from a hoarding situation, where her previous owner was unable to care for her and the other dogs in the home. Fuzzy Pawz took her in and got her a desperately needed dental - 17 teeth were extracted! She is up-to-date on her vaccinations and is microchipped. Maya will need an occasional grooming to keep her long hair in check. She does well at the groomer. She uses a dog door reliably. If no dog door is available, she needs to be let outside regularly. She is a senior girl so some accommodation for her bladder must be made. Once she settles into a home, accidents are quite rare, but in the first few days, she will pee indoors on door mats or other small rugs. (We suspect she might have been puppy pad trained.) Maya is crated at night in her foster home, but that is probably not necessary in the long run. Given Maya's age and small, fragile frame, she cannot go to a home with small children. She is good with other dogs, essentially ignoring them. We do not know how she is with cats, but since she doesn't seem interested in squirrels, she might be ok with them.
