About Bronco

Adoption Fee: $150
Australian Shepherd mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Meet Bronco an Australian Shepherd who loves to cuddle and aims to please. According to the vet Bronco is between 12-15 weeks old. We took Bronco (we named him) in as a puppy at 8 weeks old when a young couple at our daughter's softball game was trying to give him away, claiming they couldn't afford him. We own a campground and have farm animals and knew we could care for him, train him & provide a loving home until we found him a forever home. Bronco loves to sit in your lap if allowed, accompany you doing farm chores, being around a master is a great joy for him. Just patting his side or head is enough to keep him content but he also does very well keeping himself occupied and mellowing out if there isn't activity. Very motivated when teaching tricks and desired behaviors. He LOVES squeaky toys!Bronco gets along great with our large Guardian Dog (Pyrenees) and goats chickens & ducks. He does try to herd the goats as is his nature. We have five children ranging from Ages 1 1/2 to 15 and he does well with all kids we've found. I wake up at 5am each day to feed and potty Bronco & tend to the other animals. If I try to sleep through my alarm, he graciously reminds me with some barks, he is a great back-up alarm clock as he knows it's time to start the work day when the alarm goes off. He's super smart like that. Bronco loves to play fetch (though he doesn't bring it back yet) and loves to play alongside the water in our large pond with the kids. Bronco does well on rides in our Ranger with us and does well as a greeting dog in our campground welcome center & store, though when guests come in I occasionally have to remind him not to jump to be pet. In close quarters he does come when called and sits. When a lot of people are around it usually takes a few more times to get him to focus and come when called. Bronco sleeps inside with us either on the floor under our kitchen table or on the bed with our boys. He has also slept outside with our goats on occasion and does well outside with them too. We tried kenneling him when we first got him to potty train him at night but he poops when kenneled, even if we withhold food. I believe the couple that had him before used a kennel most of the time and it stresses him. I house trained him by taking him out every 45 minutes and putting his water dish up an hour before bedtime. He now goes by the door when he needs to go out and has no accidents at night. He will make a wonderful farm working dog and family pet. Please feel free to call me with any questions. Though Bronco is not listed with our local rescue, We are asking $150 made out to our local rescue Furry Hearts for adoption simply to ensure he is with a responsible family who can afford to take care of a dog. We are in Stockton, Missouri.
