INCOMING BEAUTIES! These two gorgeous 2 year old girls, Rain and Remmie, will be available soon. We are evaluating them and will update post in a couple days. What we know so far: Both girls were left behind at an abandoned house when the renters vacated the property. The neighbors saw the family gone but dogs still in yard without food and very little water for almost a week. These two were then confiscated by Animal Control. They were both chipped but the owners ignored pleas from the shelter officers. The microchips were both registered to the name DOG. No real names, just DOG.They are afraid and not liking their current situation so very stressed. They were taken into the shelter on a catch pole because of the confiscation. Imagine the terror!!! They both alligator rolled and panicked. It came to the point finally where they were redlisted. The shelter said five days and they would be destroyed. We HAD to get them out. Today is a GREAT update! Shelter staff rolled them both out together in a large metal box to take them in for spay processing. . I commented that I felt like I was taking Hannibal Lector out! lol They probably spent their entire lives in the small dirt backyard they were found in and never ever put on a leash. We left them to be spayed and picked up later. Post Spay Update: In picking them up from the shelter they also did not tolerate the leash well. They bucked and rolled. With patience and very slow walking we managed to get them into the car. You could tell already that they felt the relief. We put them in a calm foster environment to let them decompress and get a feel for their personalities. Both Rain and Remmie are very hard to tell apart. They are both crazy weims but nothing out of the ordinary. They are getting along famously with resident foster female Weimaraners. They both like to run together and seem to be a bit more mischievous when they feed off each other. Nothing horrible...just very excited to be out of the shelter where they spent 2 weeks in quarantine for the neglect case. Rain seems to be the less dominant and Remmie is the leader. This is our first day with them so we will update. Our feeling is..they do not have to stay together but each would benefit with another dog in the home. They really look to one another for comfort. Training? Yes, they need it. With some training and boundaries both girls will be really nice dogs. They are beautiful with docked tails. They learned the doggy door in about 2 minutes. Could have something to do with being 100 degrees out! :) Watch for more updates, meanwhile they will be napping on the foster moms bed with her. UPDATE NUMBER 2!!!! Remmie and Rain are settling in and shocking us with their swift adaptation to the good life. They have literally become air conditioning couch potatoes. We have changed our opinion and feel it might be best if they are kept together. Rain depends on Remmie quite a bit and gets l bit vocal when she is out of her sight. They are both polite, loving, cuddly and best of all not an ounce of aggression or resource guarding. They are happy and love to stay together no matter where they are. They share food bowls and wait their turn to eat with the fosters huge pack. They are both doing great in the crate training with only 2 minutes of whimpering then settling in to sleep. No in house accidents with access to the doggy door. BONUS! Can be left alone in the home without destruction. Yes, literally boring Weims! Interested in meeting them?? fill out the adoption application at www.socalweimrescue.org/adopt They are fostered in the Corona/Riverside area. UPDATE: We have had interest in each dog separately. If we need to, we will separate them but only if other dogs in the home. We do not think either one of them will do well without a playmate.
