About Indy

Corgi
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Location: Boise, ID Indy is a nearly 5-year-old Pembroke Welsh Corgi. He is friendly with other dogs his size and smaller, has nice house manners, is cat friendly, kennel trained, and is ready to be your new adventure buddy! This little guy does come with some baggage due to prolonged use of a shock collar in his previous home - could you be the understanding home that he needs? Indy has a playful, joyful temperament but is seeking a patient home who will respect his boundaries. Indy enjoys playing fetch, playing with the garden hose, and going on adventures. He has great recall and has been through a formal training program. He weighs 25-30 lbs, is neutered, microchipped, and is current on vaccines. He's a typical corgi in that he loves to check up on what his people are up to, needs a lot of physical and mental stimulation and loves to be with his people. Indy has some special needs- Indy is not a huge fan of having his ears touched and has bitten someone for doing so in the past. Additionally, Indy resource guards his food and treats. This is very well managed in his foster home by feeding him in his kennel and giving him treats separately. Indy also has anxiety, presumably from the prolonged use of a shock collar. He needs a patient forever home who is willing to show him that the world is not a scary place, and anxiety meds may be a good option in the future. Indy is very afraid of fireworks, backfiring cars, and other similar sounds (i.e. gunshots). He does not act aggressive around these triggers but rather retreats/runs away. Due to his food aggression, Indy should not be in a house with children and he should be the only dog in the home. A home with another canine companion may be considered as long as the adopters are willing adapt to Indy's special needs. Indy is cat friendly; he has lived with cats in the past and currently cohabitates with a cat at his foster home. While Indy has bitten in the past, we believe that Indy is a good dog. Indy has been in his current foster home for ~35 days and has not bitten his foster family or shown any signs of unprovoked aggression. He has also been in public with no issue. If you would like to schedule a meet and greet with Indy to see what he is like, please respond with a paragraph about you and your home and we will be in touch if your home seems like a good match. Thank you for considering this guy!
