About Oak

Oak is a precious young pup (around 1yrs old) who is currently going through heartworm treatment. He was abandoned deep in the woods at the edge of the county. We we got him, he was absolutely covered in ticks and fleas. Even then, he was the happiest boy! Oak is the most gentle soul and knows no stranger! He is such a blessing to whomever interacts with him! He loves all people and other animals! We noticed pretty quickly upon his arrival that he appeared to not be able to hear very well and something was going on with his legs. VET NOTES: No proprioceptive deficits noted. No cervical pain. Spondylosis noted at L4-L5. Carpal laxity with intermittent buckling as well as tarsal laxity with intermittent hindlimb ataxia noted. Well muscled in all forelimbs. No pain on manipulation of joints. Good range of motion in all joints. Mildly hypermetric in forelimbs. carpal and tarsal laxity --possible early nutritional deficiencies with off-set growth of bone and tendons/ligaments leading to laxity. The Vet assured this will not have any effect on his quality of life and the steroids he is taking during heartworm treatment could possibly help this; so we wait.
