About Zed

Zed is our 4 year old catahoula. We love him immensely, but due to a recent incident have come to the conclusion that we can't keep him any longer. He's very sweet with my husband and I, and so far we haven't had any issues with him with our kids, but he does growl in warning and has nipped the air air toward our toddler a few times. There have been a few occasions when he has nipped people's legs when they've come into our yard. Never hard enough to break skin, and he's fine if/when they are inside our house, but outside he has nipped. We were told at training this was probably due to not enough socialization. We've recently added another child, and worry that this behavior will progress into a serious incident. He has also in the past attacked our other dog. We believed it was a dominance issue and had him neutered, but he did it once more after being neutered. We took him to a training class and this in addition to our other dogs caution seemed to take care of the issue. However, about a week ago, while on a walk, zed pulled out of his collar and attacked a neighbor dog. Thankfully, the other dog is going to be ok after a trip to the vet. But due to the escalating issues we've had, we don't feel like we are the best owners for Zed anymore. I don't want to euthanize him, so I'm hoping to find someone who can give him a home better suited to his needs. We believe he is in need of an active family or person who will be able to provide him with plenty of exercise and hopefully socialization. He loves to play fetch, and go on walks. He isn't a big fan of the water. He's sweet with his family, but also isn't a cuddle bug. I couldn't find it in the health issues box, but he also had allergies to something outside that he takes apoquel for. Please contact me if you have any questions.
