About Mookie

Mookie is a beautiful, regal (and sometimes goofy) looking dog. He likes to play with other dogs and go out on walks. He loves teenagers and energetic happy people. He needs exercise daily but also sleeps a lot of the day. He's had training and walks well on a leash although he can be reactive to scooters and bicycles. The right owner/place for Mookie will be where there is/are very experienced, confident dog owners because Mookie has resource guarding issues and a bite history due to fear aggression, we think. Most of the time he is calm and eager to follow commands. He is super food motivated and eagerly awaits treats and rewards. He responds well to structure and consistency. We have worked in the past with a dog psychologist and trainers to help us manage his behavior. He tends to guard/police the areas he inhabits and, is usually calm and manageable now, but he can be moody. We manage his unpredictability by having him wear a muzzle for his waking hours. He loves to have his belly rubbed and hang out on the couch with you. Unfortunately, due to the untimely death last year of Mookie's primary caretaker, we are looking to find a good stable home/place for Mookie for the long term.
