About Sawyer

Murphy, NC This is Sawyer. He is an 18-month-old 10 lb. Shih Tzu/Poodle mix. He will need a very special adopter. We don't know his history beyond his last owner who died recently. He was purchased from a breeder at around 6 months old and only knew his owner since. He is very timid. He is very playful with other dogs; I have two seniors that he has left alone. We don't have any cats. He will get zoomies in the back yard. He is not a lap dog but will sleep at the end of the bed and let me know in the morning that he needs to go out. He occasionally will come and lie beside me and let me pet him. His house breaking is not perfect. He crates very well. We believe he might have been crated a lot with the breeder because he will spin in circles a lot when he's excited or nervous. He is somewhat mouthy when he wants to play but does not bite. He is doing well with 'stay' when a door is opened but would dart out if able. He would be a flight risk. Fence is a must for that reason. With all this being said, he will need someone who will be exceptionally patient, it may take him weeks to adapt. We've only had him for 3 weeks and he will not let me approach him but will surrender if cornered. Children would probably scare him.
