About Shiitake

Those emails will get the quickest response, we do the best we can, but if we have to follow up with an email asking you about yourself and waiting for a response, well, we have already moved on to the next email that has provided the details. We are doing the best we can to find the right home for each dog or cat, just need your help too! : His real name is Shiitake, you know, like the mushroom. We did not name him, he was given that moniker at the animal control that took him in. But, it is a cutesy name for a very cute boy, he is our little mushroom! The fungus amongus. We just call him 'Taki' for short. (we pronounce it Tocky). Taki is the latest of many, many dogs that we have taken in that have been picked up as strays. Pretty sad, and how scary for those dogs to be on their own after having a family, and surely someone that loved them. Taki seems that he must have had a person or family that cared. He is sweet, playful, housebroken and listens very well. He was found by a family that took him in and thought they would just keep him, Why not, he is a gorgeous boy, very young and lovable. But, he was left alone with a 1 year old, who knows what happened(or why a 1 year old child was left alone with a strange dog??). But, apparently the child was nipped. Nothing serious, but that was the end of that, probably a good thing tho! After his stint at animal control, Taki came to us. He was a little nervous at first but has totally settled into our home, gets along great with the other dogs and is an old pro at sharing his bed, toys, and treats. He is quite the love bug and enjoys kisses and snuggling, and adores being outside any chance he can. We have a little doggy pool and he is the only one that wanted to go lay in it, bless his heart!! I was waiting for someone to really enjoy that thing. Taki is just 30 pounds, he is more legs than he is anything. We are guessing on his breed(s). He has the shepard face and coloring and the size and tail of a basenji, what a unique guy. He will do well in a dog savvy home, a home without small children, also an active home with perhaps another dog. He will not do well being left alone for long hours, he is very young(perhaps under a year). Taki will be a great hiking buddy, or camping--he is just the right size to pack up and go and has the athleticism to enjoy a busy outing. He likes water as well, maybe a good kayaking buddy?? His adoption fee is $300. He will go home with plenty of supplies to help him settle into his new home. Please email Kristine at [email protected].
