About Zelda

Adoption Fee: $50
Redbone Coonhound mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Zelda is a 50 lbs. Redbone Coonhound/Bloodhound (?) mix who was adopted with her sister, Daisy, from a shelter last year. Despite extensive obedience training and at-home attempts at behavior modification, Zelda and her litter mate are NOT doing well together. They are both 'too equal' as littermates, and as a result, they have become aggressive with each other. However, they have done well with other dogs at obedience training and the dog park, but just not well together. Zelda would likely be best as an only dog. She also does well with the family cat when around him one-on-one, but she can get a little too rough-and-tumble when she and her sister compete for the cat's attention and barks at him whenever he tries to lay on her pillow. Zelda is a very sweet dog and loves attention. She is fun to play with and enjoys chasing toys and going on walks. She has more energy than her sister, but she also enjoys chilling on the couch and being cuddled. She is very sweet, but due to the constant stress between her and her sister, she has become more nippy and aggressive with her sister lately, but not with her humans. Separating her from her sister will likely do wonders for her overbearing personality right now, but it is likely that she will always be a little wary of strangers. She does bark when someone comes to the door, but she is not an excessive barker nor does she do any sort of hounddog howl...like her sister, she is just a lovely dog all around! Unfortunately, we simply cannot keep her with her sister any longer. Please contact me as soon as possible if you would like to adopt this lovely lady. After conferring with a behavior specialist and realizing we've tried everything else, we are looking to rehome here as soon as possible before the two of them get any more aggressive with each other. Zelda is on the rehome wait-list for the local humane society. Once she is accepted there, she will have a limited amount of time to be adopted out. We would REALLY REALLY like to find her a forever home on our own before the humane society becomes the only option.
