About Shadow

Adoption Fee: $350
Siberian Husky
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Shadow has a whole lot of love to give and even knows how to say, 'I love you' in awhoos. He's the sweetest boy who is trying to do the best he can with the cards he was dealt. Shadow hasn't had the easiest life, ending up in a shelter three times, and on the 3rd time he was left to be euthanized. I quickly jumped in and made a plan for him to arrive to me, his foster home. He has been living with us for over 2 years; he is probably around 5 years old now. We have learned a lot about this guy. Shadow got over his food aggression which was pretty severe in the beginning. He has only had one incident in the last two years where he fell back to his old self. I do admit, I carelessly let my dogs clean up the droppings from my daughter's high chair which we are stopping immediately. Food is a resource we have control over, not the dog. For another dog's safety it's best to keep him outside or in another room while eating. Shadow has gotten along with every foster we have brought into our home, except he gets nervous around puppies. He does get a bit overly rambunctious with dogs and some dogs think he is too much. Shadow is just 'extra'. He needs extra attention and can get highly jealous if I'm petting another dog and will use his body weight to move them out of the way for pets. He would do great as an only dog or another dog in the home that can keep up with his shenanigans. Shadow will need a home with older kids or no kids. He seems to have never been around infants and gets nervous around our baby, especially when she started to crawl. We have had to keep them separated, and that's just not the life Shadow needs. He did absolutely amazing with her when she was little and didn't move so much. He would go lie by her (as seen below). This dog changed me completely. He's my shoulder to cry on. My best friend. Whoever decides they want to make him a part of their family, I hope we can stay in touch. I'd love to dog sit and watch him go through the stages of life until the very end. He's my absolute favorite dog I've ever owned. I wish our environment was right for him, but he's not happy with the amount of changes and I know our future holds a lot of growth, moving, and things Shadow would not adjust well to. He loves car rides, but not new places. He is potty trained and very good about running to his crate and going in. His leash work could use some help. He's a strong boy.
