Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a question that is not covered in the bio, please email [email protected]. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/. Please note that because all our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be within a reasonable commute from the foster home for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit. Meet Tawny! Tawny is a 6-year-old, 30 lb. Terrier mix who was found tied up in the woods and abandoned. Her past had not been kind to her, but we brought her into rescue to make sure her future is amazing! Tawny has some back leg mobility issues which give her the cutest hop as she walks. Our vet has determined that no surgical intervention is needed and she only requires daily medication. The cost for this is $20 a month. Tawny can handle a few stairs but she will probably develop arthritis earlier than normal, so the less the better. Tawny has good vision and hearing. She had three masses removed from her neck (all benign), a spay and a dental. Tawny isn't crate trained but is ok sleeping by herself. Tawny does require a diaper when inside the house that will need to be changed a few times a day. It doesn't bother her at all, and isn't required when she is outside. An owner who likes to be home more than out would be ideal for her. An adult-only or older child home is also best. %A0 Tawny is an amazing dog who is learning how to 'dog'. It seems her former owners didn't give her the opportunity to learn anything, so her foster mama is showing her the ropes. Tawny has been doing great learning her leash manners, now waits for a command to eat, and is working on separation anxiety. Although she may whine or howl for a few minutes when people leave, she isn't destructive and can be happily distracted with a Kong toy. Tawny isn't a fan of car rides but can probably be desensitized over time. Tawny loves people, food, and exploring outside. A fenced-in yard or frequent walks would be great for getting out her energy. Due to her ongoing training needs, we do feel it would be best for Tawny to be the only animal in the home. After all she missed out on, it's only fair that she get all the attention!%A0 What this sweet girl needs is an experienced owner who would enjoy showing her how great life can be.
