About Tyson

Adoption Fee: $50
Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

I have a 7 year old Wheaten Terrier (male) that I am one step away from euthanizing. The last straw was him attacking and killing our cat, who lived in the home with him for 7 years. He has attacked 4 small dogs (slipping the leash, escaping from the house and in doggie daycare). Last summer he escaped fenced back yard, got into neighbor's fenced yard and killed 2 of their chickens. This year he stared biting people that come to our house. He's gotten into multiple fights with my newly adopted labski and my boyfriend's sheepdog when they first came to our homes. He is a highly anxious dog. He barks non stop at people or dogs walking by the house. He has a terrible car anxiety. Absolutely untrainable. Two times that he attacked small dogs, dog owners punched his head hard and repeatedly and probably caused him some brain damage. He seems to be declining cognitively and behaviorally. Prozac has little effect, unless it's 400mg and then he is comatose, which doesn't make for great quality of life. Is there any hope for him, if I surrender him to the rescue or does he need to be put down? It would crush my son. He is good with large dogs and cats and people when properly introduced.
