About Leia

Leia is a very cuddly and friendly Husky mix. She is average energy - she is happy to go on a hike or a run, but also is happy to spend most of the day chilling at home. She still has the energy levels to love playing and tug of war. The difficult things: She has separation anxiety and is strong enough to be able to break crates, so an adopter should have a separation anxiety plan and ideally be a home where people are home a good deal of the time. It is also helpful if her adopters have a solid local support network (like family) who can help with watching her. She is also selectively dog-reactive, she only likes about 1/10 dogs, so should be in a dog-only home, however she loves puppies so if someone wanted a multi-dog home and wanted to adopt a puppy she would likely do well. She is also a shameless counter surfer, so a home where the kitchen is kept clean or she can't access the kitchen is best (or if the owner has time to do counter surfing training). We have a baby gate on our kitchen and it works very well. The good: She is extremely affectionate and loves almost all people. She is quite low-maintenance as long as she's not home alone and there are no dogs around. She does not have any fears around noises like fireworks, she almost never chews anything other than dog toys, she mostly keeps her distance when people are eating, she does very well at the vet.
