Courtesy Posting: ORANGE COUNTY, CA (S CAL)- ID #A1870123 - 'MARTY'- a chow/lab/shepherd looking mix at Orange County Animal Care in Tustin, CA URGENT - VERY FRIENDLY BOY, CHOW X (LOOKS PART LAB OR SHEPHERD), GOOD W/ MOST DOGS IN NEED OF A LOVING, FOREVER HOME, OR FOSTER AND RESCUE ASAP - WHO CAN HELP? PLS CONTACT ROBIN FOR HELP OR WITH INTEREST OR SHELTER DIRECTLY. Please help us find a loving, forever home for this darling sweet man 'Marty' who is estimated to be 8 years old. The shelter fondly named him Marty but no owner came after he ended up at the Orange County shelter as a stray now, and now available to adopt. The shelter tells us, 'He has been a friendly boy with staff since his arrival. He did come in with masses around his eyes that we removed when we neutered him'. He is about 75 lbs and has no other reported medical issues. The shelter removed his cosmetic, superficial eye masses he had. We had a volunteer meet Marty who said, 'I met Marty on Saturday. He's a nice, mellow, happy boy. His tail wags much of the time, except when he was in the play yard and waaaaaay too interested in all the smells to be bothered by anything else. He likes treats but isn't what I'd call a chow hound. As for other dogs, we met a few with Marty and the other dog on leash when greeting.' 'The first was a mellow lab/mix, about the same height as Marty but thinner. Calm dog. They went nose to nose (their doing), sniffed, then turned their heads. A little more sniffing but for the most part not a huge amount of interest. After maybe 15 seconds, Marty turned away and started sniffing the environment. We also met a husky who was much more agitated/stressed by the environment and who stiffened when Marty neared him. He sniffed Marty's butt and Marty low-growled at him. The husky's hair was erect and his pupils were dilated.' 'From the meetings with those 2 dogs and the complete ignoring he did of the barking dogs in kennels and other dogs we passed, I'd say Marty is fine with mellow dogs but might not do well with a hyper, stressed or pushy dog. Of course, these were a couple of isolated interactions in a shelter, and once he's out and settled into a home he might not worry about other dogs at all. I didn't see any reactivity or aggression.' If you are interested to adopt Marty, please contact the shelter directly using this link: https://24Petconnect.com/DetailsMain/ORNG/A1870123 or by calling (714) 935-6848 and ask about his ID. If you may be interested in fostering or helping, please contact [email protected] or Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network who can try to pair fosters with a rescue group.
