Sally is a 3 year old Sheepdog/collie mix weighing about 50 pounds. She spent all of her life in northern Mississippi being ignored by her owner. She was finally surrendered to the animal control there and shortly thereafter pulled by Mutt Menagerie. She was transferred to my house when Memphis temperatures started approaching triple digits. With her long hair, she wouldn't have lasted long in an outside kennel. She sorely needed socializing with people and still does. She's coming along, but not a proper pet. She runs from anyone approaching her. When cornered you can pet her for as long as you like, she will not bite. You can pick her up and carry her to a crate or anywhere else, she will not bite or even growl or look like she will bite. It's just something she doesn't do. She plays well with other dogs and appears normal with the exception that she's not a pet that wants to be petted. She needs someone who is attracted to her looks and is willing to be patient with her personality. Dogs like this, in my experience, will slowly become socialized to people in time, but it's a lot of time. We're hoping someone with more time and patience than I have will come along and take up her cause.
