Animal abusers deserve [Fill in the Blank]. While law enforcers handle the abusers, we as citizens have the honor of giving 4-legged victims a whole new life. Aries is one such victim who really needs our help. Urgent Plea for a rescue angel. This 4-year old, 45-pound guy has come a long way since early May, despite severe abuse. His short, stubby legs will make you laugh and his eyes will melt your heart. If you want to gain bonus points, take him on a car ride. It's his favorite thing to do! Aries is still wary of people so give him time and space to feel safe. It doesn't take him long to come around, but respecting his need to be the first to approach goes a long way for earning his friendship. He needs a patient and loving family willing to put in the time he'll need to overcome trust issues, which he understandably has after all he's endured. His advocate bonded with him in a very short time. He said Aries is one of the most adorable dogs he's ever seen. He's amazed at Aries' desire to love people after living 3-%BD years in fear. Aries also does well with the person who walks him regularly, but most of all, Aries loves to be near his foster mom and her teenage daughter. He feels safest around them and gets sad when they leave the house without him. Though his breed types are unknown, in some photos he appears lab-ish, yet in person he looks and acts like a hound dog, possibly beagle! He loves walking in the woods and on trails and is very curious about the sights and scents along the way. He also loves catching balls, running with his foster mom, and chasing critters! Aries will do best with an experienced dog owner who will work with him to build his confidence. He responds really well to beef jerky treats! Aries' best match is adults, although understanding teens will be considered. Energetic kids overwhelm him at this time. He is curious about other dogs, but to start his new life he's best as an only pet. Playdates are a better option! Aries told us he would love a fenced-in yard! PLEASE NOTE! Aries requires a transition time that's slow and steady. We ask his new pet parents to keep him home for the first few or more weeks. No house parties, no meeting more people, no trips, etc. He welcomes car rides, but just the leisurely 'Sunday-drive' type of outing to start. Aries needs an adopter asap because his foster works long hours and has an unpredictable schedule. Aries takes seizure medication. It's working well as he hasn't had a seizure since starting the meds. This dog just needs a chance.
