About Onyx

German Shepherd mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

ONYX is a spayed female all black GSD weighing 63lbs with her date of birth February 7, 2021 which makes her three years and three months old. So funny story Onyx was found as a stray wandering around the outside of my parking lot where I work. The funny part is I had literally just had a female GSD with her same issues get adopted and go to a wonderful home in CT. Literally the next day this stray all black girl GSD shows up on my parking lot doorstep--guess God had a plan!!! Onyx is up to date on all shots including rabies. She is crate trained and potty trained. She is not a digger nor a barker unless you are slow with her mealtime. She is so smart that if I get busy she will stay in her crate waiting for her goodie and not run out even with the door open. Very smart and patient girl! She is not cat friendly and not little dog friendly like toy dogs. She is dog friendly to medium and large breed dogs from 40lbs up and friendly to both male and female dogs. She had heartworms from whatever family that dumped her not taking care of her. So she has gone through full heartworm treatment including oral medications and the three injections. She has sailed through treatment and the vet says there is no heart damage from the heartworms that have been treated. She sleeps in a crate at night and rides well in the car without anxiety. She knows her commands and has been working with a trainer. Sit, come, stay, off for not jumping on her humans, nice or gentle for taking treats, and heel for leash walking. She is not off leash trained and needs a fenced backyard. She would not be a good apartment dog. She could be an only dog or have a doggie buddy! She will be protective of her humans and would do better with someone that loved and knows the GSD breed. She is a wonderful lady and very smart and if you are not careful she might just take over--lol!!! She would be a great hiking and or running partner and with training she could learn off leash work as she has great recall and is eager to please! Her best home is an active adopter couple or single person or family with kids that behave and treat big dogs with respect. This beautiful female is a great dog and would make someone a very happy and loyal forever companion!!!!!!!
