About Trooper

Adoption Fee: 300
Siberian Husky mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Name: Trooper Breed: German Shepherd / Husky Sex: Neutered Male Age: 2.5 years Weight: 64 Good with dogs? Yes, Trooper is super friendly! When he's out on a walk, he's not too worried about other dogs and keeps a polite distance. When he gets to know other dogs in a backyard or other play context, he may be very excited at first, then calms down as he gets acquainted with his new playmates. He's a vocal player and sometimes misinterprets 'back off' signals as play. But as he's gotten to know his foster's dogs better, he's adapted his play style to match theirs and has learned to give his bossy foster sister her space. He would do great in a family with other dogs or as an only dog. Good with cats? No Good with kids? Yes, Trooper loves everybody and would probably thrive with a family that includes multiple playmates. Energy level: High, but he knows how to chill and save his energy for his favorite activities. Trooper is an ideal companion for active individuals or families who can provide him with the love and attention he craves. He would love to walk, play, jog or run regularly with his future family, and he's been enjoying weekly longer runs or hikes. He is interested in and may sniff or try to chase small animals like squirrels, bunnies and birds. If he goes to doggy daycare (where he has made friends and excelled) he may burn off some of his energy. Medical/Behavioral needs: Trooper is very social, absolutely loves to be with his people, and would love a family in which someone can be home with him frequently. For example, he'd love an adopter who works from home, or who spends most of their non-working hours with their pets. Trooper loves his crate and sleeps happily in it overnight. He can also be crated and left home alone during the day for several hours at a time, but he can be anxious and barky if left alone in an unfamiliar environment. He adores his super chewer toys - they're his go-to for staying calm during longer stretches alone. Trooper is a breeze to bathe, staying calm and still during the process. He's familiar with the commands 'sit,' 'stay,' and 'stop,' is fully potty trained and has never had an accident. Animal Characteristics: Trooper is a bundle of love, energy and joy! This sweet, gorgeous, soft, cuddly boy loves being pet, soaks up snuggles and will often rest his head on your lab, expecting more affection, and gently paw at you when he needs even more love. He will randomly fling himself on the grass and roll around, just for the joy of it. He's always up for an adventure and will make every day a new and exciting experience!
