About Bubba

German Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

It won't take long to fall in love with this young, male German Shepherd who is currently the star of the Town of Becket's Animal Control Office in MA. Affectionately known as Bubba, he is a big and goofy sweetheart between 1-2-years old. He's eager to love, learn, and make you laugh. Bubba needs a person to work with him and train him properly. He is a bit shy when first meeting someone and scared of loud noises. A trainer recently spent time with him and concluded he was most likely left by himself and spent most of his life in a kennel or a room. Isolation during this formative period is probably why it takes time for him to trust people. But when he feels comfortable with you, his personality emerges. It didn't take long for him to bond with his new bestie Officer Miller. He gets so excited when he sees her! He loves playing with toys and will bring them over to her so they can play together. He absolutely LOVES butt rubs! He lets her know when he wants one by pushing his butt against her knees. He is also housetrained (never had an accident in the kennel), and will soon be neutered. Bubba is yet another misunderstood working dog. Can you give him the things he missed out on, such as a good daily routine, activities to work his mind, exercise, and training? He is a fast learner and deserves someone who will work with him and train him correctly on things like being gentler when taking treats and not jumping on people when excited. He also needs exercise to let some energy out! He's no couch potato! Disclosure: Someone attempted to grab his collar when he was in his kennel. Scared and with no place to retreat,Bubba bit, causing three stitches which makes him high-risk for euthanasia. Ideal home: Someone who knows the breed or who has relevant experience; willing to train and give him time to transition to a new environment and people. Large, fenced yard preferred. Best as an only dog and dog-savvy children over 12. No cats, experience unknown. If you have experience, please consider adopting or fostering. Please apply here asap. https://bit.ly/ARK-Application
