About Silvie

Boxer
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

My name is Megan and I live in Los Angeles. I was walking my dog on Saturday 6/1 around the Silver Lake Reservoir when I came across a stray female senior boxer. She was anxious and walking by herself with no collar or leash. When I approached her, she quickly came to me and sought comfort - it is abundantly clear that she was someone's dog'|She is very sweet and loving, and has been getting along well with my friendly male pitbull. I took her in for the weekend with the hopes of finding her owner - I am experienced in what to do with a lost or found dog and have posted her information on all online channels and have placed dozens of flyers around where I found her, the surrounding neighborhood, and all around the reservoir. I have yet to get any calls/texts about the pup, and I am disheartened that there are no 'lost dog' postings about her online'| when I took the pup to my vet, they were unable to find a microchip. I fear she has been abandoned given some of the aforementioned info, as well as the frequent 'dumping' of dogs at the Reservoir that has been happening as of late. I want to avoid bringing this pup to a shelter at all costs. I also know how slammed rescues are and how limited fosters are these days, but I am feeling desperate as to how I can get this pup in a stable long term foster (and likely eventual forever home assuming no owners step forward). I so wish that I could be a foster, but my landlord has asked me to have the dog out of my apartment by the end of the week (as I already have three pets) and no one in my social channels is able to foster. Would you all be able to help? I am a graduate student and do not have the greatest finances, but I would be happy to make a financial donation (as well as donate a collar, leash, etc) to help get this pup settled in a safe rescue/foster situation. I want to do everything I can to support this pup. She doesn't appear to be ill based on her behavior these past few days, but she is definitely a senior dog. She has cataracts in both eyes, alopecia on her sides and rear, and some slight tendinitis/arthritis as it is somewhat difficult for her to navigate stairs and getting into/out of cars. I'm not familiar with the boxer breed, but it does also appear she has an underbite that makes it impossible to eat dry food/treats, so we have been giving her wet food which she eats without issue. have been calling her Silvie (for Silver Lake) and am trying to be strong for her in what feels like a desperate situation. Thank you for your time and consideration - please feel free to call/text/email me at any time, and if I am at work and unable to answer I will get back to you ASAP. You can reach me at 847-431-2748. Thank you so so much.
