About Inky

About 4 years ago Inky came from a rabbit rescue to live with us. At the time they said she was estimated to be 3 or 4 years old, so she is probably considered a senior bun now. Mini-rex rabbits are estimated to live between 8 and 12 years. She's very hardy and healthy so she's likely going to live a while! She is a spicy, sassy little mini-rex and is the softest most velvety thing you've ever felt! She had been kept in a cage for a very long time, abandoned, isolated and neglected before she was rescued. Her nails had been left unclipped so the quicks grew too long, and now she is stuck with long nails and they need regular clipping. As such, Inky will not walk on smooth floors. She loves to run around on any other surface though. She loves to get the zoomies around a large area. When given a treat like a bunny lolipop, she will do a little victory lap of excitement. Because of her long periods of isolation it is difficult to bond her to other rabbits particularly females...though I do think that in her heart she really is lonely for bunny companionship. She tends to be pretty food aggressive, and territorial, known to give a nip if she doesn't approve of what you're doing in her area or if she is spooked by you moving too fast. That said, if you know how to be slow, gentle, and respectful, she is very loving. She will lick you so much you would think you were made of bananas. She loves to be pet on the head and will give sweet little tooth purrs. She'll jump in your lap and accept pets as well. She needs love, even though she doesn't always know how to behave due to her difficult past. She still uses her litter box, but since we moved and she has a much smaller space she has become prone to territorial pottying. She is not a beginner rabbit, and she needs someone who can give her the attention she deserves. She is not recommended for younger children, but would be fine for older, responsible kids. We have never had an issue with small children petting her while she is being held on and adults lap and the children were gentle and quiet.
