About Lady

Found stray Malinois/German Shepherd mix wandering around suburbs. Her information was posted to multiple Facebook groups, and a note was filed with the local shelter. She had a collar, but no tags and no chip. Held her for a week but the owners never came forward at which point we had determined she was abandoned. She looks like she may have had puppies recently, so our current theory is someone bred her out and ditched her after she had the litter. Tried reaching out through friends and family to find a home for her locally but no luck. We are now going on week 3 of holding her. We are trying our best to get her adopted before sending to her to the local shelter but cannot hold on to her for more than 30 days as we would legally become the owners at that point. She is a good dog but needs more attention and work than what we can offer at this point. - Will be sending to Non-Kill Local Shelter 6/3/24. If contacting past this date, we will refer you to the shelter. - Very sweet and submissive. Calm around humans likes to be pet and enjoys attention but somewhat anxious/skittish. - Low Energy likes to lie down and sleep through most of the day but does enjoys going on walks and likes to play when running or riled up. - Likes to snuggle and be pet, understands some commands like sit. Will howl with you if you make the sound. Not good at fetch. - Young would guess between roughly 1.5 - 4 years old. - Quiet, hasn't barked much if at all in 2 weeks. Doesn't beg for food but will stand near you. - Unsure if spayed, she looks like she may have recently had puppies but not 100% sure. - Has a bit of separation anxiety, possibly due to abandonment. Will whine for a bit after leaving but will calm down after a while. - Unsure if socialized properly. She is extremely wary and defensive around other animals. Doesn't attack but is in defense mode may just need time slowly socializing. - Potty training needs more training. Somewhat understands to not go in house but will not alert you when she needs to go outside. Tried to be truthful about her pros/cons. she doesn't answer to Lady we tried not to get attached so didn't try to give her a name. She is a really good dog, but she needs more time and attention than what we can offer at the moment.
