About Sage

This is so sad for me to write. This is not something we ever wanted to do. Our 7 month old has significant allergies. Initially we assumed one of her allergies was to cats, so we moved our three indoor/outdoor cats to outside only and even adopted out the one kitty that liked to be inside more than outside because she was not happy being relegated to outside and without regular pets. After no improvement without the cats and an obsessively clean home and a multitude of HEPA filters, furniture shampooing, etc.; we had her allergy tested and she is allergic to dogs, not cats (among other things). We absolutely love our dogs and have had them for 8 and 10 years. We have tried everything to make this situation work and it has not been successful for our pups or our daughter. We cannot touch them and then touch her. We can't let them even rub up against us in love and then do our laundry with hers. It is not a good situation for our wonderful dogs. They deserve so much more, and we can't give that to them anymore. They are so used to so much love, and hopping in the back of the truck with our camper shell on and going with us everywhere. So now it is our duty to find them new families that will be able to love them like we have for so many years. We do not require them to go to the same home, but if a family would like to adopt both, we think it would kind for them. These dogs have gone everywhere with us. They went to Canada on our honeymoon with us for a two week road trip, they backpack with us, mountain bike, kayak, snow shoe, and everything in between. They went on a road trip when our eldest child was just 3 months old. Two adults, a baby, and two dogs all slept in the camper shell of our truck together and it was successful. These pups absolutely love being with their family and especially love to travel and adventure. They are used to being outdoor most of the time during fair weather, but will gladly hangout inside for hours. They sleep on their dog beds in our bathroom at night. They are both very used to cats, chickens, geese, Guinea hens, cattle, horses, and toddlers. Neither of them chew or dig. They are not at all interested in toys either. Hi, I am Sage. Dage, Rhonda, Greed, etc. I am the greediest dog you will ever meet. I will take ALL of the snuggles and pets ANYONE has to offer. I am not picky about who does the petting, I just require loads of love. I am a 10-year-old Red Heeler, Aussie mix and have been with my family for 8 years. All I want to do is wiggle my little tail, follow my family everywhere and be loved. If you love me, I will show you my gift of loyalty. I like being indoors and outdoors, and I do not require a leash for me to stay by your side. I do not stray far from my family. I do not like thunderstorms, and will hide under your bed when there are loud sounds. I love greeting all newcombers and will bark in excitement to let you know someone is here, but then run straight up to them, butt wiggling, and greet them with all of the love I have. I do well with young and older children, but do prefer a bit more of a calm area, so if I can lay in another room during commotion, I am just fine. I do well with other dogs as well, but do not prefer when puppies are bounding off of me. I may give them a growl to tell them to stop, but that's as far as I go. I am not food defensive, and am just happy to be receiving food. I am not a good candidate for free-feeding though, because I will overeat. I love going on hikes and walks and if you live on a safe country road, I do not need a leash to keep me near you. I love rolling in the grass, and shoving my snout in a fresh snow! I am pretty much one of the best dogs that have ever lived. I am microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and the vet does not have any health major helath concerns for me. I am developing cataracts though. I do have a couple of benign tumors, but they do not seem to cause me discomfort.
