About BUBBA

Bulldog mix
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

It will be one year on May 25th that sweet BUBBA has been patiently waiting at the shelter for his special someone. This boy is full of so much love and just wants someone to fill the void in his heart by welcoming him into their family. He wants to feel the stability and closeness of being able to snuggle up next to his person as well as form the dog-to-human bond that comes with taking walks together and just knowing that there's a constant in his life. As you can see, BUBBA is a big boy and his size can be intimidating, but underneath all that is his 'Big' heart. Like some dogs though, he has his favorite humans where he feels he can be at ease. There are Staff and Volunteers here that socialize and work with him on a regular basis and the bond they share is like no other. He loves to go for walks, but car rides are his #1 favorite thing so we do take him offsite as often as we can because enrichment is a key factor in achieving happiness which can be seen on full display when on any one of his mini field trips. He'll sit on one of the captain's chairs at full attention and stare out the window with the look of total contentment as though all is right in the world in that moment. His face lights up so much that it looks like he's smiling. BUBBA does have some food and toy guarding and we've been working with him quite successfully at the direction of an in-house trainer. He's been an exceptional student and was taught how to follow the 'Touch' command and can show you just how easy he can take treats from his person. BUBBA walks great on a leash and enjoys when we take him to the local park to walk around the pond, hike the trails, or just sit quietly under a tree observing his surroundings. BUBBA also knows the commands 'Sit', 'Down' and 'Paw. This senior boy is vision and hearing impaired. To what degree we're not entirely sure but we do believe he has 'some' hearing and able to see shadows/shapes. BUBBA also takes medication for Hypothyroidism. Because of his food and toy guarding as well as vision and hearing impairment, we feel it would be best if he was an only pet with no young children. A home without stairs would be ideal to accommodate his visual disability. This dog is available for adoption at the Butler County Humane Society 1015 Evans City Road Renfrew, PA 16053 Kennel License #1526
