About Canelo

Hi everyone. I am writing on behalf of my family. Please do not judge as writing this is already difficult enough. As much as it hurts us to write this, we are looking to rehome our 8 year old boxer/pitbull mix. We never had any issues with him up until a year ago, where he started getting aggressive towards our other dogs that he has known his whole life. His aggression is sporadic, and he gave no warning signs when he was going to attack. He attacked our 11 year old senior dog who is the same size as him out of nowhere, and unfortunately he recently attacked and killed one of our other dogs. My family has fallen on some hard financial times currently, so they are unable to provide the proper vet care that he needs to figure out what is causing this aggression. Since he killed our other dog, my family is starting to fear him, and they're scared he is going to hurt one of us or our senior dog. We are heartbroken to have to rehome him, as we have raised him since he was a puppy, but we our doing this for the sake of our senior dog and kids in the family. Like I mentioned, he has been around kids and other dogs his whole life, so we are unsure what is causing this aggression and whether we should keep him in this same environment. We would like for someone or a rescue to take him in to provide that proper care that we aren't able to. He is a good boy at heart. He knows sit, is kennel trained, and he is the perfect companion to go on trips with. He loves water and he loves being outside. I put that he is not good with kids and dogs just to be on the safe side, but he most definitely does not like cats. Thank you so much for those who made it this far.
