About Nimmo

Nimmo is a 2 year old pure-bred yellow lab- a neutered male. He is an anxious fellow, fearful of new people. He is on gabapentin and sertraline, which help a great deal but which do not completely eradicate his anxieties. He was raised with cats and is fine with ours. He is not aggressive (although he does bark at strangers, but then he's a dog!), but instead is playful and funny and sweet. He is not particularly food-driven and for the most part chews only his toys. He has a reasonable amount of energy for a 2 year old lab- not excessive by any means. He responds well to rewards-based training but is no good with coercive correction. He needs a new home because his person is moving to the city and he can't tolerate urban settings. He needs a patient and empathetic family experienced with anxious dogs who have another young dog to help socialize him- our trainer says this is vital for Nimmo's well-being- and who have a yard to retrieve in and a place to walk with few cars or bikes whizzing by. No young children, because they are very frightening to Nimmo.
