Courtesy Posting: PHOENIX, AZ - ID #A4934869- 'BEAUTY' - MARICOPA COUNTY ANIMAL CARE (WAS JUST MOVED TO WEST VALLEY SHELTER FROM EAST VALLEY) - ADORABLE, and OVERLOOKED 32 LB, SCHIPPERKE/SPITZ LOOKING GIRL (LISTED AND LIKELY MISLABELED AS A CHOW X DUE TO PINK TONGUE) - ADOPTABLE, BUT MAY NEED RESCUE AND THUS ALSO A FOSTER TO SAVE HER LIFE! SHELTER IS FULL- waiting since January to be saved and her time may run out! PLEASE CONTACT ROBIN WITH ANY QUESTIONS, AS SHARED POSTS AND COMMENTS MAY NOT BE SEEN OR ANSWERED. We are in urgent need of finding a patient and loving chow savvy home, or a foster (foster-to-adopt) and rescue for this Schipperke/spitz looking girl named 'Beauty' who has been listed as a chow mix and probably mislabeled as such (given her tongue is pink). She is only 32 lbs. Beauty has been estimated to be 4 years old but could be younger. We have nice video of her playing in the yard, playing fetch, taking treats gently, enjoying being pet and receiving attention. Some of her shelter notes state: '4/10- Approached as handler came forward; soft and neutral body. Neutral gaze. Opened gate partially and canine retreated from leash on initial pull attempt. Called softly to the dog and she slowly came back forward. Left the gate open partially and stepped aside, placing leash at gate exit. Canine walked forward and into the wide-loop of the leash. No issue walking down wing after leash was secured; moderate pull. In hallway canine was soft; allowed touching all over. Gave a soft whine when handler was attempting to handle dog and lift gently. Appears to have sensitivities around shoulders or chest during lifts. Softened immediately after pressuree was removed. Soft and allowed petting; sought attention. Was taken to the play yard and allowed to roam freely. Loose, explorative. Solicited further attentions and allowed all handling. Moving slowly, handler was able to lift canine partially before setting down. Canine tolerated with slow movement. Gave further pets before returning to the kennel. Canine exhibits clear sensitivity with touch and pressure in certain spots. Advise caution when advanced handling techniques are required.' The shelter listing notes state, 'You will love me because my name absolutely meets my looks and my personality. I am even more stunning in person. I love to explore on walks and chill in the shade. I am born to be a true diva and am ready to be spoiled and pampered. In return, I will give you all of my loyalty and love. I would do best in a home where I am given the proper time to meet everyone. Slow is the name of the game and I need some time to know that I can trust you forever. I also will need a home committed to the care and grooming of my double coat. I will need regular baths and grooming.' When Beauty originally came in, she was showing signs of kennel cough and had mild left hind leg lameness and was placed on meds for both. According to notes and reexam, these conditions seem to have been resolved. Adoptions are currently only $25 currently. 'My adoption fee is quite the deal! Not only do you get my unconditional love and a new BFF, it includes my spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, microchip, and even some cool coupons!' Please note we are looking also looking for foster in case she does need rescue, or someone who may want to foster-to-adopt him. If interested in fostering, fostering-to-adopt, or helping in some other way (ie., pledging for her rescue), please also contact [email protected] asap or Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network who is trying to find placement. We will try to pair fosters or interested parties with a rescue group. Rescue groups may contact the shelter directly at [email protected] and by calling 602-506-7387 and providing her ID.
