HARDEE is a 2 year old, 17.2 pound Chihuahua mix pup who was abandoned by a homeless person. Fun fact about Hardee... he's obsessed with Himalayan yak cheese bones. He will hide them all over the house. No one else would be allowed to have one if he had his way, but he can only fit two in his mouth at once! Hardee is a wonderful dog! He is loving and loyal...a one-person dog! With his person, Hardee is kissy, cuddly, and sweet. He is always happy to see his foster mom and relaxes comfortably when she is out of the home. However, he is reactive to visitors and strangers. He may initially be friendly, but he's always protective and on high alert. While we do not know for sure, we believe this has something to do with his prior living situation. Hardee is 100% housebroken and loves his walks when it's cool enough. He has good energy and prefers to go on a walk than do his business in the yard (but he will). With proper introduction and an adjustment period, he can get along with other dogs that are his size. He is doing great with his new foster sister! It took a week of adjustment but now they do zoomies, hide-n-seek, tug-of-war with toys and bones, and both sleep in the big bed and share mealtimes and treats with no issues. At night, he sleeps in his dog bed in the big bed or on his own side and loves to give his foster mom a good morning cuddle when she wakes up. Hardee has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, neutered, fecal tested, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. MORE about HARDEE: He is an affectionate dog who loves approval, learning new things, and does fine with corrections. He does well on walks but a fenced yard is a must. No kids. Not cat tested. He has storm anxiety.
