Scarlett is a very loving snuggler, who's great with my girls and all people she comes in contact with, also good with large dogs. Unfortunately, ever since my older dog Sarge died last year, she's become more and more aggressive towards small dogs, to the point now, where she's breaking through her harness and leashes to go after them. She has never mamed, growled or even barked, but she has grabbed them. Animal control has never been called or involved and she's never hurt one of them, but because of her size and strength she's pulled me and my daughters to the ground several times. Now I don't feel comfortable having my girls take her out, only me, when I can take her out, which isn't as much as I feel she needs, because I'm a single mom of 3 girls (10, 14, 17yo) who works full time out of the home. When I do take her out she's on a very short leash, and only after I have assured there are no other dogs in the area. This is very hard because all of my neighbors have dogs and people walk theirs all the time. This isn't fair to her for she's not getting exercise or an opportunity to get off leash at a dog park like before, plus she's having to spend more time in her kennel, which I feel awful about. Unfortunately I cannot install a fence because of my HOA bylaws, but I am certain Scarlett would do great with a family that has a fenced in back yard and either other big dogs or a home where'd she'd be the only dog.
