About Avo

Avo is a French bulldog rat terrier mix. He is 2 years old, neutered and utd on shots. He is weighs 36lbs He has been learning manners at our house for about a year and a half. He was a terror. He is a good dog he's just had some misdirection and mistreatment in his past. He needs someone who will be willing to give constant constructive criticism. He knows his kennel as his room he enjoys it and most of the time he goes into it without being told when he sees us put on our shoes. Avo sleeps in our bed with us at night, he has his own blanket at the bottom and if you cover him up usually he will stay there all night unless he hears a noise. (Sometimes a fart in the night sets him off, he's silly) He doesn't love his nails trimmed but he's gotten to where he will tolerate it. All of his tricks could use some brushing up but he knows Lots of commands and hand signals. He loves toys and brings one to you when you get home or if he gets excited about anything. He absolutely loves to tear apart toys and leave stuffing guts all over the house. He is Ball Obsessed, he has no off switch. If you would throw the ball, he would run and play with it and bring it back 24/7 until he collapsed. He does not know what personal space is. he is a dog humper. If my dog tries to run in the house he humps. If they're allowed to wrestle he humps. If he is left unattended with my dog and he isn't tired he will hump. He goes to his kennel any time he will be unattended. The vet thinks his humping is a dominance thing. We tried him on trazedone to curb the humping but he acts scared and tries to hide behind or under everything. Keeping him kenneled when we aren't watching has been the only thing to work. he pulls when we take walks he can behave til there's another dog. Then as soon as they're out of range he lunges at them. For that reason and us having a large backyard we don't walk him often. Avo loves the water. He isn't great at swimming but he loves water. He needs a strong willed person with patience. He loves other animals but is stubborn and high strung so when he isn't tired and sometimes even when he is he monopolizes all of the attention. It's probably a good idea for him to go to a home as the only pet or to one with an animal with the patience of a saint. With that said, he currently lives with 4 cats over 10lbs and a 75lb dog. Avo comes with lots of things. His kennel, toys, his harness, collar, and seatbelt for the car. his favorite blankets, some treats he loves and a bag of the food he's been eating for a few years. All of this makes Avo sounds like a handful and that's intentional, he was, Avo has worked very hard learning manners and with consistent direction he will continue to be someone's best friend. We only want the best for him so full transparency is our plan.
