��%90%BEAdoptable: Dahlia��%90%BE Dahlia is a gentle and low-maintenance approximately 1 year old female; she was an owner surrender due to their inability to take care of her and give her proper exercise. She is a typical female velcro dog, loving the attention she receives from her foster human! Dahlia did live with other dogs and enjoys the company of dogs in general. With proper introductions, she greets other dogs nicely and will play, but is still learning how to 'dog' sometimes... she may not have had much opportunity to act like a puppy prior to going to her foster's. She would do best as a solo dog so she can receive all of your love and attention, can build up her confidence, and work on training.... Or in a home with a neutered, confident male dog. She may be too clumsy and play a bit rough for a small dog companion. We have not observed her interactions with cats, so we don't know how she would be in a cat-friendly home. She is people-friendly and eager to please, however she does lack confidence in certain situations so she will need a strong handler/leader who will guide her and continue to bond, train, and build her confidence. Dahlia does enjoy walks/hikes and running in the yard, so a fenced in yard would suit her best. She would enjoy a home with dog-savvy older children, but has not lived with small children (though her gentle nature has shown that she should do well). An active family that is willing to provide training would be required for Dahlia's continued success. Dahlia is now spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccines. She tested positive for Lymes (unfortunately rather common in NJ) and was treated without issue, she is doing/feeling well and ready to find her forever home.
