Danielle, a devoted student, and Onur, a courageous disabled combat veteran, discovered Zelda in dire straits. Her body bore the marks of neglect and the scars of mistreatment, yet her spirit remained unbroken. They quickly attended to her immediate needs, treating her flea infestation and ensuring she received all her necessary vaccinations. However, life had yet more trials for Zelda. Shortly after her rescue, it was discovered that she was not only suffering from heartworms but was also pregnant. The journey was tough. Zelda's pregnancy meant that she needed extra care and attention. Danielle and Onur, despite their limited resources and the significant demands of their own lives, embraced the challenge wholeheartedly. Zelda gave birth to a litter of six adorable puppies, adding joy yet multiplying responsibilities for the couple. With love and dedication, the puppies were raised until they were ready for their new adventure, eventually finding a rescue in New Jersey that welcomed them. Zelda's heartworm treatment followed, and after a tough fight, she emerged victorious-heartworm negative and healthier than ever. Now, she's up to date with all her vaccinations and has blossomed into a loving and protective companion. Her experience with other dogs is heartwarming; she is friendly and non-aggressive, a testament to her forgiving nature despite her past abuse. Although her interactions with cats can be mixed-peaceful with indoor cats but excited by outdoor ones-her behavior shows she can adapt to a loving home that understands her quirks. One of Zelda's remarkable qualities is her resilience. Even though she sometimes shows fear when approached by strangers-a memory of her darker days-she has learned to trust and love again thanks to the patience and compassion of Danielle and Onur. Crate-trained, enthusiastic about walks, and happy to be outside, Zelda is ready to bring joy and love to a new family.
