About Ajax

Australian Kelpie mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Ajax had a rough start in life being found as a pup dumped in a rural ditch along with his sibling Comet. Fortunately they were found by a caring cop who actually took them in and cared for them! Thank you sir! He got them healthy and to a good weight, got their vaccines and then seeked out help finding homes. The local shelter was full so a plea went out for rescue or adopters. Sadly no one responded. I felt that since this cop stepped up and did the right thing by these pups, that he should be supported. I did not want him to feel that he was 'stuck' with them for doing the right thing|so our rescue stepped up! We hoped by doing so that we would be helping the pups to find their forever homes. But sadly that wasn't in the cards. They had gone directly to our vet and unfortunately were diagnosed with a rare and highly contagious virus called oral papilloma. The pups had to be isolated from other dogs til the virus was entire resolved which took almost four months! Needless to say, being isolated they missed out on a lot of social experiences and consequently weren't scooped up when cute young pups. But both dogs are very healthy now and are ready for their forever homes but their needs are pretty specific! These boys need an outlet for energy so an active home with a runner or hiker would be perfect along with someone committed to some serious training! A kelpie is a working breed and needs a job for a purpose in life and an outlet for their drives! For Ajax having a Kong to chew on non stop helps calm his drive but they both very much need regular exercise as an outlet for their energy. These boys are just maybe 18 months old so still very much puppies and are only about 35# but are very strong! They are very smart and learn fast but until that training is in progress and their energy needs met, they each are more like a bull in a china closet! They are very sweet boys and don't have a mean bone in their bodies! So far they have been dealt pretty bad hands of cards but the next deal should be much more of a winning hand for them!!! Although these boys are going to be a project to start with, the end product should be a stunning intelligent devoted dog who will be very appreciative of someone taking a risk on them! May truly be a diamond in the rough scenario!!!
