About Rocky

Adoption Fee: $55
Plott
Age: Senior
Sex: Male

Rocky the Plott Hound is a gentleman who loves LOVE! This 9-year-old male from southern New Hampshire was rescued from the south, but his 'dad' suddenly and recently passed away. He is still a bit depressed and feels lonely. Family members are heartbreakingly unable to take Rocky, so they are desperately searching for someone to adopt him soon. His temporary arrangement ends in late May 2024. If you are one of the many people who love senior dogs, especially those who still have lots of pep in their step, please consider adopting this prince. He has a heart of gold and loves being right up against or near people. He often likes to snuggle in people's laps even though he's about 90 pounds! Though he has a chill personality, Rocky is still active and enjoys play time. He has the silliest zoomies! Though he loves to play fetch, he hasn't quite figured out he needs to drop the ball. As a hound, he loves spending time outside and sniffing everything. He also loves walks, but needs leash work. Rocky does not get along with other dogs so an aware owner is best to help redirect his attention to prevent reacting. Interestingly, he seems to have the best listening skills when it comes to conversation. He enjoys hanging out with you while you tell him all about your day. Some of Rocky's other qualities: good traveler, neutered, UTD on shots, housetrained, smart, and eager to learn. Training might even be fun for him and also strengthen the bond between him and his new owner. To help Rocky flourish and overcome a devastating loss, he would do best with an experienced dog owner who is willing to work with him in a positive manner and provide structure to his day. A fenced-in yard would be ideal! Sorry, but no young children or apartments. Rocky previously lived with a teenager, so an adult home with a dog-savvy teen should work well. He also has experience with cats, but there is no guarantee. Rocky is a sweet and adoring dog who has been through a lot, but has SO MUCH love to give. One look in his soulful eyes and you will be hooked! To inquire about adoption, please contact [email protected] or 603-566-8500
