JJ is an 8 year old, 9.4 pound Dachshund mix who was surrendered to the shelter after the death of his owner. We were asked to take him to help him find a new home and couldn't resist this sweet boy! LOCATION: Pensacola FL NEEDS: A family and a fenced yard. To meet JJ and be considered for adoption you must first submit an ADOPTION APPLICATION using this link- https://form.jotform.com/232395363383057 or by filling out an application on our website- aplaceofhoperescue.com Sweet is an understatement when it comes to describing this little guy!!! JJ is a loving and calm boy who enjoys being in a lap getting petted and loves affection. He's friendly with everyone that he meets and it didn't take him long to feel comfortable in his foster home. JJ is very friendly with other small dogs and would be fine with others or as an only. We have not had him around cats or kids. If there are kids in the home they should be older kids who are familiar with small dogs. He does seem to have some age-related hearing loss and little kids might startle him. JJ is not 100% housebroken but he is in a new home and adjusting to a new routine. He has learned to use a doggie door and when his foster mom offers to take him out he always goes. But if he is feeling sleepy or lazy he will sometimes pee on a pad or hike a leg. Because of his slight hearing loss we would prefer that he has a home with a fenced yard. He's pretty chill and enjoys long naps in the sunshine and treats! At night JJ sleeps in the big bed snuggled under the blankets. He has had a wellness check, is up to date on shots, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. He is getting his neuter and a dental this week and then he will be ready to find a family to call his own again! *We are located in Pensacola Florida. Puppies, dogs with pending vet appointments, and dogs with behavioral issues are only adoptable within a 1 hour drive to Pensacola. Most others we will consider within a 5-hour drive. We do not ship or transport our dogs. *We are a foster-based rescue and do not have a facility. Our dogs live in private homes in and around the Pensacola area until they are adopted.
