About Lyra

This is Lyra. She is 11, almost 12 years old. She has hip dysplasia so she is a very cranky old lady. I'm needing to rehome her to someone with experience in nippy dogs. She does not do well with cats or children. I met Lyra in 2018 when I started dating my now husband. She was his dog from the time she was a puppy. Since I moved in with my husband in 2020 she has become more aggressive towards my son and slowly to me and anyone else who lives in the home. I will add she has bitten. She's bit my son, my daughter, my mother, and myself. We've tried chalking it up to her hips as she gets very nervous if she's laying and you walk by her. That's how most of the bites have happened. She has never punctured, just bruised and slightly broken skin. The bite to my daughter however was unprovoked in the slightest and Lyra went out of her way to bite her. We do not have the time or money for training on top of medicating her for her hips and we want her taken care of. She is a very sweet dog, she just has her moments. And with small children those moments don't need to happen. I'm hoping with proper care and training she could enjoy the last bit of her life. She does have some skin irritation, but we comb her as often as possible. We cannot trim her nails ourselves due to her having protectiveness over her paws. We usually have our vet do that when they need it. Believe she is in the ideal weight range. She loves walks, has had a harness her whole life, doesn't play fetch though. Some medical history is that she is spayed. She nearly died when put under for a dental cleaning so it was advised that she not be put under unless an absolute emergency.
