About Remington

Adoption Fee: $50
Australian Cattle Dog / Anatolian Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Remington a Texas Heeler (Australian Cattledog x Australian Shepherd) and she is the most loyal, loving and devoted dog we've ever had. She will go anywhere and do anything as long as she can be with you. Velcro. The definition of 'ride or die'. She's tough as nails and afraid of nothing (except an electric fence, she does respect fences). However, her breed tendencies are not working with our toddler. She has strong herding instincts - %A0normal for her breed and yes we were aware of that before we got her, but it's just not working now that we have a toddler running around. She quickly gets overly excited and stops listening and obeying. When the baby is being boisterous while playing, Rem will try to herd her by knocking her down, and bites at the air%A0 -%A0 the baby is at her level - it's a dangerous situation. I have never rehomed a dog in my life, but the baby's safety comes first. Note that Remington is NOT aggressive, it's just her breed tendencies. I feel she would do best with someone who is active outside often - farm, hiking, etc. She loves being with her people and running around like a happy lunatic. So much energy. She is great with other dogs (as long as they are introduced properly). We have several dogs she gets along with.%A0She gets along great with our cat, they are best friends.%A0She is good with chickens and goats but again, that herding instinct is strong. She is great at getting the goats back into their paddock...but you have to be mindful of her energy level, she can get carried away quickly. She also used to round up pigs for us. We really want to make sure she is a good fit for the next owner so if you'd like to take her on a trial basis just to see if it works out, that would be fine 0 in fact I would prefer it.%A0 She has had all of her shots (and I have a folder with her vet history) but she is due for for her Rabies and Lepto booster.
