About EDGAR

Lab mix
Age: Senior
Sex: Male

Name: Edgar Age: Approximately 10-12 years old Sex: Male (Not Neutered) Breed: Labrador Mix, 28 pounds Location: Northern Neck County, Virginia Vet Info: Edgar is blind due to unknown cause. He is up to date on his rabies and distemper vaccines and is currently taking medication for worms which the vet believes will be cleared up in approximately 3 weeks. Edgar is not neutered and has not been tested for heartworm. He appears to be in good health and is settling in nicely at the home of his good samaritan. Info From Owner: Edgar was found as a stray and taken in by a good samaritan after his stray hold at the local shelter was up. Edgar has adjusted well to his new environment and is an indoor dog with access to a large room in his finder's home. He is a pretty mellow and happy dog who enjoys going for walks and has good leash manners. He pauses to listen curiously to sounds when out on walks but does not bark or react at all. Edgar is quiet at home and loves getting his chest and neck scratched or rubbed and likes to stay close to his people and follow them around the house. He also likes to play with toys with hidden treats. Edgar is easy to care for and lets his people check him and examine his ears. He's a bit hesitant with paw touching but doesn't bite or get aggressive. He is house trained, consistently goes to the bathroom outside and is easy to walk on leash. Edgar is shy when meeting new people but gets comfortable with a bit of time. He has never been aggressive toward anyone or possessive with food or toys. He is good with men, women, teens and younger kids. He does not currently live with any other animals. Edgar mostly stays in an approximate 400sf room. He navigates fairly well and keeps his head close to the ground for clues when in an unfamiliar area. He has difficulty with stairs and will bump into things at times but once he maps the area and is familiar with it, he can walk around without assistance. He responds to voices and will wag his tail and come to those he can recognize. He also responds to voice for direction on things he shouldn't do (enter a specific room/area in the house as an example). **Owner Surrender Disclaimer: These are blind and visually impaired dogs who are living in homes, but their owners were unable to keep them.
