About Valentina

Pit Bull
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Surrendered to Lowell animal control on Valentine's Day, this young female mix was given a name out of Cupid's playbook! Valentina is about two-years-old and weighs around 65 pounds. After coming from an unstable living situation, she is waiting for a second chance in a boarding center in Methuen, MA. Considering her rough start in life, it is understandable that she has fear-based behavior around strange people and things. Based on staff reports, 'Tina' is able to accept people relatively quickly (within a day or two) into her 'circle' of friends, which is very good news. She was very loose and wiggly as she greeted a staff member that was walking by outside the fence. A trainer specializing in behavior recently spent time with her. Tina was relaxed and friendly with everyone at the kennel that day, except for the trainer herself, the scary new person! It's clear that once people gain her trust, she is comfortable with them, even if they are not her daily caretakers. To help Tina adjust to a new home, provide her with a daily routine so she knows what to expect. Once in a stable home environment, she'll show more and more of her curious, happy nature. Tina needs an experienced adopter committed to working with her in a positive way. She is food-motivated, making it enjoyable for her to train. To set her up for success, Tina should have a calm home with adults. A dog sibling is possible, but they would have to meet. A fenced-in yard would sure make her happy! No apartments, no kids.
