About Luna

Adoption Fee: $250.00
Catahoula
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Located in Driggs, Idaho, a four-year-old female, Catahoula, is searching for her forever home. (The owner is willing to travel to meet the potential owner.) Luna's current owner has had her for two years. Sadly, he has had a major life change and has been forced to re-home her. He is adamant about doing the right thing by finding Luna, a loving family who can provide her with the affection and attention she deserves. Luna needs someone who understands her and is willing to invest the time and effort to make her feel safe and loved. Luna, a one-of-a-kind Catahoula, is a smart, sweet, and affectionate dog. She is spayed and is up to date on her vaccinations. Luna is an inside dog and would not do well being shut away in a garage or outside yard. Her life has been part of the family. She is obedience-trained, crate-trained, and housebroken. Luna loves playing with other dogs, but we believe she would do best having all the attention or with one other dog in the household. Luna is fond of car rides (she traveled the U.S.), has gone camping, loves long hikes, loves to cuddle, and, if allowed, will sleep on your bed. Unlike some, she will hang close and check in with her partner. Luna is happiest when she has someone to accompany her on the couch or bed. Luna's story is not unique. Her previous two owners did not fully understand the breed's unique requirements, and she has faced challenges as a result. One is that she has developed separation anxiety stemming from being returned two previous times. Luna develops a strong, devoted attachment to her person or family. Luna will need someone to be patient and understanding as she bonds with her new family and adjusts to her new environment. If you're purchasing or adopting, Catahoulas can be challenging for new dog owners. They are highly intelligent and require consistent training and mental stimulation. It can be a lot of fun. They are not recommended for first-time dog owners and require experienced caregivers who can provide the necessary socialization and training. Catahoula's natural instincts and protective nature mean they need firm guidance and a clear understanding of their place in their new family. Despite the challenges that come with caring for a Catahoula, Luna is a remarkable dog who is well worth the effort. She is playful and affectionate with her family and would make an excellent companion for an active household. With the right care, she will flourish and make a loving addition to any family.
