About Red

Update 4/29 Location: Shell Knob, MO Will transport as far a 60 miles away. Age (educated guess) 1 year. Size: med to large, weight roughly 45 to 50 lbs. Breed (educated guess): Lab, heeler cross. Red is still available for adoption. A local shelter has agreed to take him on the 5/11 but I just hate the idea of having to leave him there knowing how it will affect him. In the last thirty years, I've had to take three strays we couldn't rehome (no matter how hard we tried) to shelters and it was incredibly difficult every time. He's housebroken now, going to the door himself. He's kennel trained. And he kind of plays fetch. He comes when called, and he stays with you when he's off-lead (Sadly, he's afraid of losing you). Red is and incredibly likeable dog and will make someone a terrific life-long friend. We've learned that he loves hiking. And, as the video I'm adding here shows, he loves, loves, loves water. Sam (his caretaker while he's here) says he also loves chasing butterflies. His response to cats remains mixed and we are unsure of how to read it. We aren't seeing aggression or hunting behaviors, just a reflex response to running. Training and familiarity may help with that. Please consider making this dog a member of your family.
